Do you take credit cards?

Is there a drive-through?
Yes, at our Standish store on M-61. Pull up to the north side of the building. Order online first for the fastest hand-off, usually under 90 seconds. The Au Gres store on US-23 does not currently have a drive-through.

Most online orders at Highway Dispos are ready within 15 minutes. Orders placed before 8:45pm are fulfilled the same day. You will get a text when your order is ready.

What ID do I need to bring?
You need a valid government-issued photo ID showing you are 21 or older. Acceptable forms: a US state driver's license or ID card, a US passport, or a US military ID. Out-of-state IDs are accepted as long as they are valid and unexpired.

About us and Green Mitten Pharms.

Who owns Highway Dispos?
Highway Dispos is owned by the founders of Green Mitten Pharms, the same Michigan family who started the cultivation business in 2008. No venture capital, no chain, no outside ownership. A family-owned Michigan retailer with two stores in Standish and Au Gres, and one in-house cultivation brand, Green Mitten Pharms.
When did Highway Dispos open?
Green Mitten Pharms, our in-house cultivation brand, was founded in 2008. We later opened two retail stores under Michigan's adult-use cannabis program: HW-61 on M-61 in Standish, and HW-23 on US-23 in Au Gres. In 2026 we unified the two stores under the Highway Dispos brand.
What is Green Mitten Pharms?
Green Mitten Pharms is Highway Dispos's in-house cannabis cultivation brand. We grow in a Michigan greenhouse and supply both of our retail stores with small-batch flower. If a product on our shelf carries the Green Mitten Pharms stamp, it was grown by our team, not sourced from a third-party wholesaler.
What does 'small batch' mean?
Small-batch means we grow in small plots and cure each harvest on its own rather than blending large volumes together. For Highway Dispos and Green Mitten Pharms, that means a single harvest might yield a few hundred jars of one strain, not thousands. When a batch is sold out, the next one is genuinely the next harvest, not a reblend.
Are you family-owned?
Yes. Green Mitten Pharms has been family-owned by the same founders since 2008, and that ownership runs through both Highway Dispos retail stores. You can still find the family behind the counter on any given Saturday. This is not a private-equity rollup or a chain. It is a family business.
Why are you called 'Highway Dispos'?
Both of our stores are on numbered highways: M-61 in Standish and US-23 in Au Gres. Our existing storefront signage has used road-sign shield marks for years, with the highway number on each shield. The unified brand keeps that system so the next store we open can take its own shield based on the road it sits on.

Cannabis basics for new customers.

Do I need a medical card to shop at Highway Dispos?
No. Both Highway Dispos stores are licensed adult-use cannabis retailers in Michigan. You must be 21 or older with a valid government-issued ID. A medical card is not required to shop.
I have never tried cannabis before. Where should I start?
Start low. We recommend first-time customers at Highway Dispos begin with a 2.5mg or 5mg edible, wait the full 90 minutes, and see how they feel before considering more. Our Sunrise Coast Relief shelf was built for exactly this scenario, and any budtender at either store can walk you through options in plain language without pressure.
What is the difference between Indica, Sativa, and Hybrid?
In common usage, Indica strains are associated with more body-focused, evening-appropriate effects. Sativa strains are associated with more alert, daytime-appropriate effects. Hybrid strains are some combination. The science behind those labels is imperfect, so our Highway Dispos budtenders focus less on the label and more on what kind of experience you are hoping for.
How long do edibles take to work?
Edibles typically take 30 to 90 minutes to take effect. The mistake most first-time customers make is taking more at 45 minutes when nothing has happened yet. Wait the full 90 minutes before deciding whether to take more. Effects can last 4 to 8 hours.
What is THC and what is CBD?
THC (tetrahydrocannabinol) is the cannabinoid most associated with cannabis's intoxicating effects. CBD (cannabidiol) is a different cannabinoid that does not produce intoxication and is often used alongside THC for a more balanced experience. Many products on the Highway Dispos Sunrise Coast Relief shelf combine both.
How should I store cannabis products at home?
Store cannabis in its original child-resistant container, in a cool and dark place, and out of reach of children and pets. Michigan law requires cannabis to be kept in its original packaging during transport. Flower stays freshest in an airtight container away from light and heat.
Can I bring cannabis across state lines?
No. Michigan cannabis cannot legally be transported across state lines, even to other states where cannabis is legal. Federal law still classifies cannabis as a controlled substance. Consume what you buy at Highway Dispos inside Michigan, on private property, at a residence where the owner allows it.
What happens if I buy too much?
Michigan law limits adult-use retail purchases to 2.5 ounces of flower equivalent per transaction. Our point-of-sale system at Highway Dispos tracks your purchase against the limit. If you try to exceed the limit we will let you know and adjust the order.
05

Sunrise Coast Relief and senior wellness.

What is Sunrise Coast Relief?
Sunrise Coast Relief is Highway Dispos's wellness-focused shelf, built for adults who are new to cannabis, returning to it after a long break, or not interested in flower. The shelf centers on low-dose edibles (2.5mg to 5mg), topicals, tinctures, and sleep gummies, and every budtender at our Standish and Au Gres stores is trained to walk customers through it in plain language.
Is Sunrise Coast Relief the same as medical cannabis?
No. Sunrise Coast Relief is a merchandising framework for adult-use cannabis products sold at Highway Dispos, not a medical program. You do not need a medical card to buy anything on the shelf. It is a curated selection designed to be approachable for customers who want low-dose, non-smokable, or discreet formats.
Can my adult child pick up cannabis for me?
Yes, as long as they are 21 or older with a valid government-issued ID, and they purchase it under their own name at the counter. Michigan law does not permit transferring cannabis to a minor. Once they pick it up, they should not open it in a vehicle during the drive home.
Do topicals make you feel high?
Topicals formulated for external use do not produce intoxicating effects, because they act on the skin without meaningfully entering the bloodstream. Many of our Sunrise Coast Relief customers use topicals in the morning and continue their normal day. Flavored or ingestible-intended products are separate and labeled accordingly.
What is the lowest dose edible you sell?
Our Sunrise Coast Relief shelf at Highway Dispos typically stocks edibles at 2.5mg and 5mg per piece, with multi-piece packages so you can start with half a piece if preferred. Many first-time customers find 2.5mg an approachable starting point.
06

Michigan cannabis law.

Who is the Michigan cannabis regulator?
The Michigan Cannabis Regulatory Agency (CRA) regulates adult-use and medical cannabis in the state. Highway Dispos is licensed by the CRA at both the Standish and Au Gres locations. Our license numbers are displayed in the store and in the footer of this website.
Where can I use cannabis legally in Michigan?
On private property where the property owner allows it. Cannabis use is prohibited in public places, at state parks and forests, on watercraft, in vehicles, at schools, at workplaces that prohibit it, and anywhere federal jurisdiction applies (national parks, airports, federal buildings). Treat Michigan cannabis the way you would treat alcohol.
Can I use cannabis at a campground or state park?
No. Michigan law prohibits cannabis use at state parks and state forest campgrounds. If you are staying at a privately-owned campground or resort, check the property's policy. Private property owners are permitted to prohibit cannabis use even where Michigan law allows it.
Can I use cannabis on a boat?
No. Michigan law prohibits cannabis use on watercraft. Open containers and consumption are both restricted. Store your purchase in its original packaging and wait until you are at a private residence or private property where the owner permits it.
Can I drive after using cannabis?
No. Michigan law prohibits operating a vehicle under the influence of cannabis. Penalties are similar to driving under the influence of alcohol. Do not drive for at least 4 hours after smoking, and 8 hours or more after an edible. If you are unsure, do not drive.
I am from Ohio. Can I legally buy cannabis in Michigan and take it home?
You can legally buy cannabis from Highway Dispos with a valid Ohio ID showing you are 21 or older. However, transporting cannabis across state lines is a federal offense, regardless of the laws of the destination state. Consume what you buy while you are in Michigan.
What are the penalties for a minor in possession in Michigan?
Possession of cannabis by anyone under 21 in Michigan is illegal and subject to civil penalties for a first offense, with escalating penalties for repeat offenses. Highway Dispos does not sell to anyone under 21, and we card every customer at the door and again at the counter.
Can my employer drug-test me for cannabis use?
Yes. Michigan's adult-use cannabis law does not prevent employers from testing for THC or enforcing a drug-free workplace policy. If your job requires a drug test, Michigan adult-use legality does not provide a defense. Check your employer's policy before using cannabis.
What happens if I get pulled over with cannabis in my car?
Keep cannabis in its original child-resistant packaging, keep it out of the passenger compartment if possible (trunk is best), and do not open or use it in the vehicle. Open containers of cannabis in a vehicle are treated similar to open alcohol containers and carry penalties.
